Resistive Multi Touch Screen, “Make a New Paradigm of Touch Screen”

Touch screen market recorded an average annual increase of 42.2 per cent of touch screen market in the world, and expect a view of growth 12 million units in 2011. Especially, because it has an average annual increase 42.2 per cent rate of growth in touch screen market for hand held device. In 2011 year, Touch Panel much of loading in mobile market will increase 49 per cent, most smart phone will be adoption touch screen panel generally.
Touch Screen Panel will expect to have high importance as touch screen panel adoption field replaces hand held device which was growing an average annual increase 31.9 per cent between 2007 and 2011 in home appliance.
AD Semiconductor’s new product a resistive multi touch screen sensor is an innovation product that can sense multi point touch of maximum 3 points in screen based on existing basic 4 wire type.
Existing one point touch way has difficult to make a various user interface(UI) and capacitive way is possible multi touch maximum 2 point but it has limited to use for malfunction in stylus pen access and noise environment. New resistive multi screen solution of AD semiconductor could be adapted to mobile phone, navigations, tablets PC, PDA and others and helps to make various user interfaces. Also, resistive multi touch is more fast responsible speed and simply layer frame than capacitive way so cost and delivery have a competitive by improvement of productivity.
And case of different types of existing touch sensor has malfunction and noise from holding part on grip part of mobile product.
But resistive multi touch sensor of AD semiconductor has definite about reliability it so possible to pen input normally as tablet PC which is a letter note input even touch palm of hand partly on screen of product.
Possible to partly active of active window so it can reduce power consumption, also possible various applications by event. And differently way of capacitive way it possible input using a stylus pen.
This multi screen solution is developed by AD semiconductor’s own technology. Controller IC (TSD2015RM) is own design, the core algorism of IC and pattern patent make an application for transparent screen operated with this.
This product has I2C interface with 2Mbps which is 5mm x 5mm FBGA packaging of 81 pin, and the operation voltage is 2V~3.3V, the standby current consumption is about 1uA. The Application might be mobile phone, PMP, PDA, Navigation, car DVD, MP3 player, camcorder, digital camera, tablet, PC and other.
Currently, exclusive controller chip development is complete and prepares to enter to mass production. Furthermore the solution is loading to mobile and navigations product and it will be out on the market within the end of year.
AD semiconductor is established in 2002 as sensor professional company and hold in Dimming, ballast, Power IC, motor drive, controller and others. AD semiconductor has plan to apply robot field which needs various sensor at own sensor and chip design technology. Robot technology will leap forward a development view in the next 10 years as process, and expect demand various sensor technology in the process.
